Music Video Editing: Narrative colour edits

We wanted to create a 'dream-like' effect on all our narrative footage to make it different to our performance sections.
This took us age to experiments with many other effects before finding the right one.
We ruled out black and whirr straight away as we did not want the memories to look dull and miserable, we wanted them to still appear bright but slightly off focus but not to look like bad framing or editing.

We achieved this by editing the colouring of the footage to make it appear brighter.
We then added a soft focus to take the sharp edge off and to achieve the 'dream-like' affect.
We did this to every narrative footage within our video.
