Music Video Research: Joe Brookes - Superman
I have used this video as inspiration for planning certain shots within my own music video.
This is a shot of the main guy of the video (Joe Brookes) singing directly towards the camera whilst still playing the guitar. I loved this shot because Joe isn't placed central in the frame, his guitar is however a main focus has been placed on Joe's head making the background unfocused so him singing to the camera gets the most attention in the shot.
Within this shot, Joe isn't looking directly at the camera and is playing the guitar in a relaxed manor. This is the style I want in my video as it shows the audience how important the instrument is within the song.
His is also put in neutral clothes in a room of neutral colours showing that he is blending into the room which links in with the lyrics.
In this shot Joe Brookes is still lip syncing but without playing the guitar although it is still in the frame, this is something we may use in our video.
I love the location of this shot with Joe standing up and using the space as well as the amazing background of the city. There is also a focus pull on just Joe so the city appears slightly unfocused in the background so it doesn't still the attention from Joe.
This high angled show works effectively with the lip syncing along with guitar playing and I think this would be a good shot to use in my own video.
This ending shot works really effectively with the sunset and I think the lightening on here is a good way to end a video.
