Music Video Research: Jason Derulo - It Girl

I like this video for inspiration because of the switching from black and white to colour.

The change between black and white and colour is unusual due to videos choosing one or another, for my video I am thinking about placing my singer in colour yet my narrative in black and white. This video doesn't follow this structure but towards the end of the song, more colour is used than black and white which can match the mood of the song.

The black and white at the beginning its quite striking, especially this first shot of Jason Derulo.

However this shot of Jason Derulo in colour is less dramatic and he is placed in more casual clothes.

This is my favourite shot from the video. With the use of lightening, it has made Jason Derulo and the girl silhouettes against a very bright background. If I was to do this in my own video, I would do this shot in black and white with my narrative couple against a big open space.
