Music Video Research: relating to the audience

These are two videos which carry strong messages with their narrative which makes their target audience able to relate with them.
By presenting a video which is easy to relate to, it'll encourage more of the audience to connect to the song, and in turn buy it. This is why it is so important to an institution to get the right video.

This video by Pink, although very striking, attracts her target audience. A typical Pink audience is the age from mid teenage to mid twenties which is the most emotional stage of a person's life. This song connects to these emotional battles her audience may have faced which makes the video very easy for them to relate to. This is very typical for Pink's music therefore it meets the audiences' needs as they expect a strong song with a deep meaningful video, which this song has.

This video places Beyonce in the position of a male to reflect the point of what she does is unacceptable and therefore reinforces the lyrics to the song.

I think the institution would agree with this video because of who Beyonce's target audience are; teenager to young adult and mainly female.
This video helps females relate to it as many of them may have felt in this situation and reversing the situation highlights the gender divide with behaviour like this as it becomes much more striking when she does it than when her partner takes back his role.

Beyonce's video is similar to Pink's due to the relationship it build with the audience. It allows people to relate to the song through the narrative which connects with the story behind the lyrics. I believe these make good music videos because people enjoy relating to things as they feel more 'understood' as an audience.
