This was a class activity where we compared screen shots from our AS media project to real media texts (in this case films) of the same genre.
As my media project last year was a 2 minute thriller film opening I compared my work alongside two very famous thriller/Abduction films: Kiss the girls and Taken.
I found out from this work how important research to discover the conventions of the genre you are choosing is, without background knowledge of the genre you would not be able to identify the conventions to include therefore it would not meet the audience needs who expect them.
The genre of my music video falls into indie and acoustic therefore I would need to be able to conduct enough research on this genre to find out the conventions involved in the text.
